it was my birthday on the 19th.
i am now at that age ...' old enough to know better but young enough to do it
anyway.' i just returned from a two-day trip to bombay. i had gone to
catch a few movies at the MAMI (Mumbai Academy of Moving Image) on a
whim. i had planned to attend day 2 and day 3 of the festival. the
process is to book a seat for a movie of choice the previous morning
(between 8 am and 8.05 am!) on bookmyshow. this turned out to be a
'fastest finger first' type of situation. for day 2, i could not
pre-book any movie, so i just stood in a walk-in line for over 2 hours
for a popular movie with 2 young and enthusiastic kids for company. none
of us got in, but we were assured that the movie would soon be
available on streaming sites. on day 3, i watched three movies: first
one in english was so slow and tranquillizing that i had multiple short
naps during the screening, the 2nd was a well-made but highly disturbing
movie in german and the third was in japanese, too long and nothing
like sci-fi movie i was expecting. so that, the beach and catching the
bombay vibes....
