a
misdiagnosed and wrongly treated eye condition caused the cancellation
of a meticulously planned off-beat kashmir and ladakh trip two days
before scheduled departure.
what turned out to be a corneal ulcer in my
right eye was treated with antibiotic eye drops for almost 2 weeks until
I changed ophthalmologists. it was scary for a bit as further delay
could have led to a more serious condition.
in conclusion:
(1) i lost an
opportunity to
click photographs and to visit parts of Kashmir never seen and of
ladakh never ventured
(2) my screen time and reading is greatly reduced
as my right eye is dilated for past 12 days
(3) if medical professionals
are not equipped to handle a case, are they not ethically obliged to
guide the patient to another doctor?
